Chadwicks — Old Town Alexandria

Monte Cristomimosa

During a recent work conference stay at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, I ventured over to Old Town Alexandria, VA for brunch and landed at Chadwicks — and honestly, it was a solid find.

I visited on Friday, May 16 at 11:30 AM, and one of the biggest perks? It was just a quick Uber ride from the Gaylord, making it an easy escape from conference food and hotel restaurants.

First Impressions

You really can’t beat the location. Chadwicks sits right near the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria, which immediately gives it bonus points for atmosphere. Whether you’re walking the area before or after brunch, being so close to the water makes the experience feel a little more special.

What I Ordered

For brunch I went with a Monte Cristo ($16), a mimosa ($5), and a side of scrambled eggs ($4).

The Monte Cristo was the star of the meal — satisfying, hit the brunch craving, though not necessarily something I’d rave about for weeks afterward. Still, for the price, it felt like a great value.

And can we talk about the mimosa price? $5 is hard to beat these days.

Food & Menu

One thing I appreciated was the variety on the menu. I had a genuinely hard time deciding between the Big Easy Breakfast Burrito, French Dip, and Steak & Eggs before ultimately landing on the Monte Cristo.

If you’re someone who likes having lots of brunch options without an overwhelming menu, Chadwicks does a good job of offering something for everyone.

Another plus: the food came out very quickly, which I always appreciate — especially when traveling or squeezing in a meal between plans.

Service

The service was perfectly fine — no complaints, but nothing particularly memorable either. Everyone was pleasant enough, and everything ran smoothly.

Overall I’d give Chadwicks a 7/10. Would I go back? Yes — especially for the combination of reasonable prices, great waterfront location, and fast service. If you’re staying at the Gaylord for a conference or visiting the National Harbor area, it’s definitely worth the short Uber ride over to Old Town Alexandria for brunch.

I’m also curious about that Steak & Eggs next time.
